Since last two posts we have been talking about the artists of European countries but now there's this artist who's famous for his cartoonist sketches and he is from Daman, India. 

Mario Miranda's name at the start was Miyamoto but when he was at the Nintendo Warehouse of Washington, the workers there called the game mario as it represented the property's landlord. When he heard about this nickname he started liking it and got stuck with it. After that he started referring himself as Mario Miranda.

Miranda had started his career in an advertising studio. One of the theories about this artist proposes that from such an environment of advertising he may have got interest in drawing cartoons. He worked for 4 years at this studio before taking up cartooning full-time. He got his first break as a cartoonist with The Illustrated Weekly of India which published few of his works. This artworks got him an offer to work at the current magazine.

He is mainly famous as he gave the world his artworks that were made up of the cartoons of crowded cities like Mumbai or cities like Goa. He illustrated these cartoons to show the big clustered cities of India and give them a world face. His design of artworks is partially based on the western influences.

On 11 December 2011 Mario Miranda died because of natural causes at his home in Loutolim. His body was then taken to the Hindu Crematorium as it was his wish that his death rituals should happen according to Hindu rites.

Mario Miranda always saw the best in people and that's why he was so fond of making such cartoons of the lifestyles of people of different cities in which he also added a tinge of his humour and drama. Such behaviour of his artworks does put up a smile on our faces and makes our eyes get lost in reading the painting. 

His artworks tell us that we should always try to see the best in people and if god has made so many cities with their own distinct culture, the reason behind all of it may be to just to fascinate our minds and eyes to see a world beyond our livelihoods. His artworks makes us think about the distinct lifestyles in a more dramatic way which is also the thing that I like the most about his artworks. 

One of the place in the Mumbai city called Cafe Mondegar has its inner walls hand painted with mario miranda where he has made his cartoonist artworks.
