MICHELANGELO

 MICHELANGALO

He was celebrated for his art's complexity, physical realism, psychological tension, and thoughtful consideration of space, light, and shadow. Many writers have commented on his ability to turn stone into flesh and to imbue his painted figures with energy.

You probably know Michelangelo Buonarroti as one of the greatest artists of all time. During his prodigious career he sculpted the Pieta in Rome and the David in Florence, painted the Sistine Chapel's ceilings and even designed the dome for St. Peter's Basilica, to name just a few. Michelangelo's most famous works have to be his Pieta, his sculpture of David, and his painting of the Sistine Chapel ceiling, both of which reside in Italy

Michelangelo's paintings are notable for the way he depicted the human body, which was in stark contrast to the style adopted by painters during the medieval period of the dark ages. His figures were in proportion and life like in contrast to the style of medieval Christian art and included an immense amount of detail.

HAVE FAITH. Even in difficult times, Michelangelo never lost faith—in his marble, his work, in a higher power, a higher purpose… Sometimes, according to his poetry, he lost faith in himself, but never in the powers that went beyond him.
