Image
RAJA RAVI VARMA Labelled by art historian Geeta Kapur as the “father of modern Indian Art”, Raja Ravi Varma is best-known for his paintings and prints that exquisitely render Indian subjects using European techniques.  Raja Ravi Varma  is sometimes regarded as the first modern Indian artist due to his ability to reconcile Western aesthetics with Indian iconography. arma was born into an aristocratic family in Travancore state. He showed an interest in drawing from an early age, and his uncle Raja Raja Varma, noticing his passion for drawing on the palace walls, gave him his first rudimentary lessons in painting. The correspondence commenced with a letter dated 31 August 1895 and a year later ' Draupadi at the Court of Virat ' was the first painting commissioned by the Maharaja Moolam Thirunal for the picture gallery. Insights to Indian mythology: Through his paintings, he gave an insight of the famous mythological stories to those who were not fortunate enough to hear...

MICHELANGELO

Image
MICHELANGALO He was celebrated for  his art's complexity, physical realism, psychological tension, and thoughtful consideration of space, light, and shadow . Many writers have commented on his ability to turn stone into flesh and to imbue his painted figures with energy. You probably know Michelangelo Buonarroti as one of the greatest artists of all time. During his prodigious career he  sculpted the Pieta in Rome and the David in Florence , painted the Sistine Chapel's ceilings and even designed the dome for St.   Peter's Basilica , to name just a few.  Michelangelo's most famous works have to be  his Pieta, his sculpture of David, and his painting of the Sistine Chapel ceiling , both of which reside in Italy Michelangelo's paintings are notable for   the way he depicted the human body , which was in stark contrast to the style adopted by painters during the medieval period of the dark ages. His figures were in proportion and life like in contrast ...

Leonardo da Vinci

Image
LEONARDO DA VINCI Although he is best known for his  dramatic and expressive artwork , Leonardo also conducted dozens of carefully thought out experiments and created futuristic inventions that were groundbreaking for the time. His keen eye and quick mind led him to make important scientific discoveries, yet he never published his ideas. Though we often think of da Vinci as a painter, he actually only produced  about 20 paintings in his lifetime  – which is one reason why they are so famous and highly valued. In fact, da Vinci seems to have felt most at home in his role as an inventor and engineer. There are few super amazing facts like he didn't go to school and he always wrote in reverse and his notebook was asked for by Bill Gates about leonardo da vinci. He saw science and art as complementary rather than distinct disciplines, and thought that ideas formulated in one realm could—and should—inform the other. Probably because of his abundance of diverse interests, ...

Frida Kahlo

Image
FRIDA KAHLO Frida Kahlo was a mexican painter and almost all of her painting consisted of her own self portraits depicting some or the other deepest feelings. She was mostly famous for her uncompromising and brilliantly coloured self portraits that dealt with identity human body and death. Frida kahlo was a sufferer as she had suffered through all kinds of pain one can imagine to have altogether. At the beginning lets not talk about what and how her life of fame ended and rather talk about the beautiful painting she designed during her stay in this world. Apart from her beautiful paintings was her beauty as she was gifted with unibrow which is now a style of fashion among many youth rejecting stereotypes and becoming the subject of today's ' Facial Hair Today' . One catchy thing about her appearance is that she always used to wear a tiara type of hairband full of different coloured flowers everyday. Kahlo's interests in politics and arts led her to join the Mexican Co...

MARIO BRITO MIRANDA

Image
MARIO MIRANDA Since last two posts we have been talking about the artists of European countries but now there's this artist who's famous for his cartoonist sketches and he is from Daman, India.  Mario Miranda's name at the start was Miyamoto but when he was at the Nintendo Warehouse of Washington, the workers there called the game mario as it represented the property's landlord. When he heard about this nickname he started liking it and got stuck with it. After that he started referring himself as Mario Miranda. Miranda had started his career in an advertising studio. One of the theories about this artist proposes that from such an environment of advertising he may have got interest in drawing cartoons. He worked for 4 years at this studio before taking up cartooning full-time. He got his first break as a cartoonist with The Illustrated Weekly of India which published few of his works. This artworks got him an offer to work at the current magazine. He is mainly famous ...

PABLO RUIZ PICASSO

Image
PABLO PICASSO Pablo Picasso a spanish painter who inherited his artistic hands from his mother. My opinion on this artist is not so devastating as it was for the last one. Pablo had to suffer as everyone has to for their interests and to gain achievements for the same, but he did not suffer as much as Vincent Van Gogh and that was because of few reasons...one of them is that Pablo lived long span of time and so he became famous during the years of his living. Starting an introduction on Pablo Picasso for the ones who don't know him...well he was a famous artist born in spain. He devoted 80 years from 91 years of living to different art forms. As its history it's definitely going to have many theories and one of them is that Pablo at a very young age showed interest in art forms. His first word after birth was piz-piz which in spain means pencil. His mother being an artist had high hopes for his to become one too, which eventually came out to be true as he became a more famous...

VINCENT VAN GOGH

Image
VINCENT VAN GOGH Vincent Van Gogh one of the most famous artists but sadly became famous after his death. According to me Vincent Van Gogh should have been famous during his life as  he has designed some of the most beautiful paintings during his lifetime but was never really appreciated. He was not given the credit he should have been given.  His most famous artwork that probably all know is 'THE STARRY NIGHT'. But this mind blowing painting has its own background story and that everyone may not know. There are many assumptions but the one I believe is true is that Van Gogh was not being appreciated in his life and so his life was full of sadness and miseries, this angst was so high that it's said that he started drinking the paints and almost tried to kill himself but he failed doing so and ended up in the hospital.  But as he had a passion for painting, sitting on his hospital bed he drew this painting 'The Starry Night' which he saw from the window of his ho...
